The software makes it easier to configure QoS settings on Steelheads for customers who choose to use it rather than QoS on their routers. Customers rank their applications in importance, categorize each site by the bandwidth of their WAN connections and set minimum and maximum use for classes of activity. The QoS employs the hierarchical fair services curves algorithm.
We announced six new products in the year already, three of which were internally developed and the others were purchases and acquisition. The CACE acquisition helps us build out our product set in our Cascade [WAN optimization] product group, and gives us more quality. Global Protocols is a small company in D.C. focused on the Defense Department, and gives us a leg up on our DoD and federal business.
In addition to MDM, Symantec’s mobility portfolio helps secure remote access using strong authentication and helps to protect information using encryption, data loss prevention and anti-malware. As these capabilities are built on a scalable platform used to manage thousands of endpoints, enterprises can enable large mobile deployments confidently and efficiently.
